Opportunities'R'us helps you take control of your life.
Get a grip! Sort out your problems NOW.
All you really need to do is ditch some bad habits and replace them with some good ones.
It sounds easy and in many ways it is, but old habits no matter how bad are ones you have become comfortable with and identify yourself with to the extent that to ditch them is to lose part of yourself.
There is also the fear of the unknown.
Whatever your desire to improve, you must want it enough to do what it takes, It may seem daunting to get out of the rut and change your life but remember "The longest journey starts with the first step".
habits you need to lose:
-
apathy
-
expectation of failure
-
blaming others for all your problems
Apathy: It's very easy to be lazy, just watch the days of your life trickle slowly into history while you watch others having a life on TV. Wake up, It's time to get a life of your own!
Expectation of failure: This is not an easy one, the brainwashing remarks of others as we grow up can be very insidious. Parents and teachers telling children that they are stupid or ugly or ignorant, that they will never amount to anything or that they will never be able to do certain things are creating very powerful shackles of belief that can bind securely. You need to change your expectations.
Blaming others is very easy and can make you feel better. It may even be true, but it is not very productive. Sure the government has made life difficult, that,s what it's for isn't it? But put that aside and decide how to achieve your goals anyway.
habits you need to acquire:
-
Set goals and make plans
-
Expect to succeed
-
Take responsibility for your life
Sure some people strike it lucky, they win the lottery or are just in the right place at the right time, but you are as likely to be struck by lightning. Don't wait you life away, don't rely on blind chances to dictate your life. Decide what you want your life to be and make that your goal, plan your route to your goal. It's no good being the captain of a ship if you have no destination in mind and no chart. Along the way you may need to invest in your future but it is well worth it. Can you really afford not to invest in yourself?
Health
Good health is pretty fundamental to a good life. Unfortunately, good health is not as common as it should be. Make good use of your doctor and sort out any problems that prevent you from enjoying your life, a stitch in time saves nine is an old saying that is very true with illnesses.
Remember however that, as in all groups of people, there are good doctors and bad doctors. With the increasing pressures on the health service, doctors cannot afford to spend as much time on each patient as needed and details can get overlooked.
In particular check:-
- Your medication does not clash with anything else you are having, even non-prescription medication such as ibuprofen or anti-histamines. Always read the leaflet.
- Your problem is not a side-effect of other medication you are having
- If you have medical insurance, your doctor knows about it. Otherwise some things may be left that could otherwise be fixed by a referral from him e.g. Doctors continue to believe that joint replacements are only good for 10 years even though 20 to 30 years is the current expectation.
Because of this they may delay referral to a specialist that may advise this treatment.
- It is very English to just grin and bear it. However if there is no apparent pain then there is no apparent need to do anything about it.
For any medical type problems, always check first with a medical practitioner. However if they cannot remedy the situation, do not think that is the end of the road. You might consider a second opinion, but also consider this:-
Before a new drug is introduced, a whole battery of testing is necessary. As with any scientific endeavor, a control group is required. This control group is always given a placebo rather than just nothing. The use of a placebo is an acceptance of the fact that in any healing process, the state of mind is very important. You should not ignore that either. The mind and beliefs are very important, consider hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy
It is truly amazing what hypnotherapy can achieve. Here is some examples of the kind of things it can address:-
- giving up smoking
- break some other habit or addiction
- losing weight
- pain management
- hay fever
- irrational fears and phobias
- low self esteem
- lack of confidence
In principle you can probably achieve these without hypnotherapy by an act of will. Unfortunately though no matter how much you try to 'will' such a cure consciously, if 'deep down' you do not believe it will work, then that belief is what will win!
To reiterate though, check first with a medical practitioner.
As with anything, there are some good hypnotherapists that charge little or nothing and there are some that charge excessively, try to get local references.
You can also get CDs and MP3 files that will help. Have a look at:-

Finally
It is truly amazing what a person can achieve, but it does take a will to achieve and it does require that the person has at least some idea of what they want to achieve.
Just as the ship-captain who knows where he is and where he wants to be can soon establish a course, if you know where you are and where you want to be, you can get there, in fact the way is often obvious. Just as a captain without a map may not know which way to go to get to a destination or even what destinations exist, so you need to know what opportunities exist and how to grasp them.
'Opportunities R us' is here to help with that.
